Escorca, Spain - January 07, 2025 A 51-year-old Spanish man was rescued on Sunday after falling around 10 meters during the first rappel in the Clot d'Infern torrent, located in Escorca, Mallorca. The incident occurred around 11:30 AM when the man, part of a group of 16 canyoneers, lost his footing while descending the treacherous terrain. Initially, he was out of communication with the group, but one of his companions was eventually able to reach him and confirm he had sustained injuries. Emergency teams from Mallorca's Sóller fire station, Inca Mountain Rescue Group, and the Guardia Civil's 'Cuco' helicopter were quickly deployed to the scene. Due to the steep and rugged location, the rescue was complex, and the most suitable evacuation method had to be determined. Ultimately, the injured man, who suffered multiple contusions and was in critical condition, was airlifted to Son Espases University Hospital. Meanwhile, rescue teams ensured the safety of the remaining group members, guiding them to shelter.
