Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy - January 06, 2025 Firefighters rescued a stranded dolphin from the shallow waters of the Lignano lagoon on January 6. Two teams from the Lignano fire station responded to the scene, reaching the trapped dolphin by boat. The marine mammal was carefully placed on a floating stretcher for transport. Veterinarians closely monitored the dolphin throughout the rescue, performing medical checks before guiding the stretcher back to open waters. Once released, the dolphin swam away safely. The operation involved collaboration between firefighters, veterinarians, and experts from WWF Area Marina Protetta di Miramare, the University of Padova’s Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Nutrition, Associazione DelTA, Shoreline Cooperative of Padriciano, and Slovenia's Morigenos Association.
