President Ramaphosa reflects on Robben Island visit, honors late Justice minister
South Africa's President and ANC party leader, Cyril Ramaphosa, attended a memorial honouring the late Justice Minister, Dullah Omar. This comes as the party celebrates its 113th anniversary of its founding.
Ramaphosa explained that the ANC decided that they would embark on 'pilgrimages' of historical importance for the party. And that visiting Robben Island the the gravesite of Minister Omar was part of said pilgrimages.
He also mentioned that the lesson to learn from Robben Island (which he visited earlier) was that many of the prisoners survived. Stronger, much more determined (possible metaphor for the Party in its current state)
And later, he honoured the life of the late Dullah Omar. And mentioned how he was a fighter for justice and human rights
