Australia - January 08, 2025 KOSCIUSZKO NATIONAL PARK, NSW — A 23-year-old bushwalker who went missing nearly two weeks ago in Kosciuszko National Park has been found alive and well. The man was last seen on December 26, 2024, descending the Hannels Spur Trail near Geehi. When he failed to meet his friends at the Geehi campground, a search was launched. Despite extensive efforts by police, the SES, and other emergency services, the search continued for 13 days. On December 31, items believed to belong to the missing hiker were found near the Kosciuszko River, and a campfire and personal belongings were later discovered near the Geehi River. After a multi-agency search involving over 300 people, the man was located on January 8 near Blue Lake and was winched to safety. He is now being assessed by paramedics. Inspector Josh Broadfoot praised the combined efforts of emergency services, volunteers, and the public in bringing the bushwalker home safely. "This is an incredible outcome," he said. "We never gave up hope."
