This is the amusing moment a pet dog yapping at an elephant ran away when the jumbo charged at it.

The brown canine was spotted barking at the majestic creature as it passed through a residential area in India on December 7.

Footage shows the pooch approaching the elephant, seemingly attempting to threaten it. However, upon seeing the dog in front of it, the jumbo dashes toward the animal, prompting the canine to bolt away.

Dogs bark when they sense a threat to their territory, such as an unknown person or animal approaching their home or yard.

The sub-continent has at least 30,000 wild elephants—more than any other country and approximately 60 per cent of the world's entire Asian elephant population.
