Sweet Chinese snacks made from various fruits coated in melted sugar, were swarmed by a colony of bees.

Footage shows the Tanghulu desserts displayed in a booth, with hundreds of seemingly 'sweet-toothed' insects flying around the sweets in Hebei, China, on October 24.

Tanghulu is a traditional Chinese dessert made of candied fruit on a skewer, coated in a hard, crystallized sugar shell.

Vendors originally used hawthorn berries, but now they also use other fruits such as strawberries, cranberries, grapes, mandarin oranges, pineapple segments, cherries, kiwis, and dragon fruit.

These sweet treats are crunchy and sugary on the outside, yet soft and tart on the inside.

Local reports said that the rounded shapes of Tanghulu resemble calabash gourds, symbols of good luck in ancient China, and they often appear around the New Year and Lunar New Year celebrations.

Research suggests that sugary snacks can make bees feel good and even optimistic.
