This is the amusing moment a pet bird rode on a tortoise's shell.

The zebra dove was spotted atop a sulcata tortoise in Phetchabun, Thailand, on July 4.

Footage shows the feathered creature perched on the turtle as it ambles around the floor.

The bird can be seen nestled comfortably as the reptile walks.

The filmer said: 'It flew into the tortoise's enclosure and perched comfortably on the back of one of them.'

'I decided to keep the bird as a pet, adding it to another member of our growing animal family,' they added.

Zebra doves are generally peaceful and get along well with other birds and small animals. They are known to be trusting of humans and can be good parents if they are left alone while nesting.
