The expansion of China's visa-free policy is a significant catalyst for the growth in inbound tourism.
Since the visa exemption policy took effect for South Korean citizens on Nov. 8, 2024, the number of visitors from South Korea to the Tsingtao Beer Museum has grown by an average of 10 percent each week. Currently, about 2,000 South Koreans visit the museum every week.
SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): HE KUAN, Guide of Tsingtao Beer Museum
"During the first week of the visa-free policy, from Nov. 8, 2024, our museum welcomed over 1,000 South Korean visitors. The number has continued to rise. Many South Koreans of all ages are eager to enjoy a fresh Tsingtao beer, and the museum has become a must-see spot."
Around 30 flights operate daily between Qingdao and Seoul, making travel between the two cities convenient.
According to recent data, over 50,000 South Korean nationals have passed through Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport since Nov. 8, 2024.
