Ukrainian aircraft engine factory 'hit by Russian bombs'
A Ukrainian aircraft engine factory that specialises in building parts for aeroplanes and helicopters has been hit by Russian bombs in Zaporizhia.
This is the claim made by Russian media, citing the Voyenkory Russkoy Vesna (Russian War Correspondents) Telegram channel, although the Russian military has yet to comment.
The first video purports to show the Motor Sich factory being hit by the Russian bombs, causing a large explosion.
The second video reportedly shows the aftermath of the attack by the Russian Armed Forces on the Ukrainian aircraft parts factory Motor Sich with a high-explosive aerial bomb (FAB) in the city of Zaporizhia in Ukraine on Wednesday, January 8.
A building can be seen burning while rescuers work the scene.
Motor Sich Joint Stock Company is a Ukrainian manufacturer of aircraft engines that is based in Zaporizhzhia.
The company produces engines for both aeroplanes and helicopters, along with industrial marine gas turbines and related systems.
Ukrainian officials confirmed the strike and said that at least 13 people were killed and another 113 were injured.
Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office said high-rise residential blocks, as well as an industrial facility and other infrastructure, were damaged in the attack.
The Ukrainian Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said that Russian forces had launched guided bombs at a residential area in the city in the middle of the afternoon, and at least two residential buildings were struck in the attack.
