United States - January 08, 2025 Jefferson County, CO, USA - In a heart-stopping rescue, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies teamed up to free a distressed deer trapped in a backyard hammock in the Applewood community. The rescue unfolded when the deer, curious and entangled, found itself stuck in the ropes of a hammock. A brave CPW officer held the struggling animal steady, while deputies swiftly used knives to cut the ropes, setting the deer free. Though the confused animal didn’t immediately understand the gesture, it was visibly relieved to be released back into the wild. This rescue serves as an important reminder for homeowners to secure outdoor items like hammocks and sporting nets when not in use, helping to protect local wildlife from similar dangers. “Helping our neighbors in distress. It’s what we do,” said a sheriff's department representative.
