This is the amusing moment a wombat satisfyingly scratched its back on a fence wire.

A tourist spotted the furry marsupial moving back and forth under the metal string to relieve an itch on Maria Island, Tasmania, Australia, on November 16.

Footage shows the animal shaking up and down beneath the fence. Moments later, it walked away, seemingly relieved.

Wombats can experience itching due to a skin condition called mange, caused by mites burrowing under their skin. Mange is highly contagious and can spread between wombats through physical contact or sharing burrows.
