Indonesia's Mother Mountain erupted violently, the column of volcanic ash reached a height of 5 kilometers in the sky
Mount Ibu in West Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, Indonesia erupted violently on January 11 2025 at 19.35 Eastern Indonesia Time.
with the observed height of the ash column being approximately 5,325 meters or five kilometers above sea level.
The volcanic ash column was observed to be fiery red in color with thick intensity leaning towards the west.
This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 28 millimeters and a duration of 3 minutes 5 seconds.
Ejections of incandescent lava were observed from a distance of 2 kilometers from the center of the eruption.
Currently, Mount Ibu has alert status Level III, with recommendations from the community around Mount Ibu and tourist visitors not to carry out activities within a 4 kilometer radius and a sectoral expansion of 5.5 kilometers towards the crater opening in the active northern part of Mount Ibu.
People who do activities outside the home are advised to use masks and eye protection.
