Deltona, United States - January 10, 2025 An 11-year-old boy, Aiden Brown, is facing criminal charges after falsely claiming another student had a bomb on a school bus in Deltona this morning, prompting a major law enforcement response. Aiden’s alarming shout on the bus set off a chain reaction, as the bus driver immediately reported the threat, and deputies along with additional units rushed to the scene near Oxford Drive and Lorraine Drive. Deltona Middle School staff and Volusia County Schools personnel also responded. The bus was cleared of students, and a thorough sweep for explosives and firearms was conducted—nothing was found. Aiden later confessed he had fabricated the bomb threat, admitting he had no reason to believe there was a bomb on the bus. Deputies confirmed through interviews with Aiden, other students, and video footage that Aiden had repeatedly shouted the false report of a bomb. Aiden was transported to the Volusia Family Resource Center for processing on felony charges of making a false bomb report and disrupting a school function. Sheriff Mike Chitwood is urging parents to remind their children that poor decisions can have serious consequences, as highlighted by this incident.
