The Egyptian Marathon, the oldest existing marathon in Africa and the Middle East, held its 32nd edition in Luxor on Friday.
The run started at the historic Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, attracting hundreds of runners worldwide.
Mohsen Abdel-Maboud, manager of the marathon, said that the event, which is accredited by the Abbott World Marathon Majors, offers runners points toward future major marathons.
This year featured four race categories: the full marathon (42.195 km), Luxor Run (22.289 km), Ramses Run (12.336 km), and Hatshepsut Run (5 km).
