"At the beach in Ouidah, we saw the performances of artists. It's cool, everyone's impressed, everyone's attracted by this festival."
Vodun, a traditional belief system deeply rooted in Benin's history and culture, has spread among Afro-descendant communities in the Americas and the Caribbean.
In recent years, the Beninese government has focused on promoting and preserving Vodun culture. By organizing the festival of Vodun Days, the government aims to dispel misconceptions and prejudices about indigenous beliefs, protect intangible cultural heritage, boost the tourism economy, and strengthen cultural identity and pride.
