Humanoid Robot Strolling Shenzhen Streets China
humanoid robot captured the spotlight on the streets of Shenzhen, Guangdong, igniting discussions across international social media. The flagship product of Shenzhen-based Zongqing Robotics, the SE01 is a full-size industrial humanoid robot.
Standing 170 cm tall and weighing 55 kg, SE01 achieves walking speeds of up to 2 meters per second with 32 degrees of freedom—12 in the hands and 8 in the arms—enabling precise and flexible movements. Its advanced gait is powered by end-to-end neural network solutions, reinforcement learning, and imitation learning, setting a new global standard for humanoid robots.
Equipped with dual-core processors from NVIDIA and Intel, Intel RealSense D435 depth cameras, and 360° LiDAR, SE01 excels at 3D perception and obstacle navigation. Its custom-developed harmonic joint module provides impressive torque and stability, allowing it to perform complex actions such as squats, push-ups, jumps, and object manipulation.
Priced at an estimated 150,000 RMB (~$20,500 USD) for commercial use, SE01 is expected to enter the market in two months, marking a significant step toward accessible humanoid robot technology.
As co-founder Zhao Tongyang explains, this street test was a practical solution due to limited company space, showcasing SE01 in a real-world environment. The viral moment follows a surge in interest in Chinese robotics innovations, including the RT-G spherical robot and Unitree B2-W wheeled robot.
With rapid advancements in AI, Zongqing Robotics aims to make humanoid robots mainstream, unlocking their vast potential in various industries.
