A Turkish tourist claimed he was bound and robbed in his hotel room in Thailand.

Masis Erkol, 36, was reportedly attacked by unidentified assailants in his room at a condominium in 'Sin City' Pattaya early morning today.

The suspects were said to have forced Masis to transfer cryptocurrency to their accounts before restraining his hands and legs with cable ties. They then locked the door behind them, but Masis managed to partially break free from his restraints to call for help.

Officers found handcuffs and a black eye mask when they entered his room.

A condo security guard said: 'While I was on duty, the tourist came hopping up to me asking for help. He had cable ties around both wrists. I took a video for evidence.'

Police Lieutenant Colonel Chalawit Athipansee, deputy chief of investigation of the Pattaya City Police Station, said the incident happened at around 3:36 am.

He said: 'We are still questioning the Turkish man. He has not yet disclosed any details. Police are collecting evidence and checking CCTV footage to find leads on the perpetrator.'

Police believe Masis may have known the attackers because the condo had tight security.

Investigations were ongoing.

The attack happened a week after a Russian tourist was assaulted in his room over a crypto debt on Phuket island. Phuket and Pattaya are both notorious enclaves of criminal activity in Thailand.

The disturbing incident is the latest issue with tourists in the bustling coastal city, where round-the-clock sex workers cater to holidaymakers.

Government chiefs have attempted to clean up the city but regular violence and depravity continue to blight its reputation.

Earlier this month, a British tourist, 71, was grilled by police after he admitted sleeping with the the corpse of a dead prostitute for three nights before the body was discovered.
