This is the "embarrassing" moment a police officer mistook a 20-year-old homeowner for being a child. "

Keira Stone, 20, opened the door to a police officer knocking from house-to-house.

He can be heard asking: "Is your mum there" - before quickly correcting himself. "

Keira replied to the officer, letting him know the house belonged to her - but says she felt "flattered" by the mistake. "

She caught the whole thing on her Ring doorbell camera on December 20th, 2024,

- after worrying no-one would believe her.

Keira, a chef from Castleford, west Yorkshire, said: "The officer was just doing door-to-door rounds, to make sure everyone was okay. "

"I saw him knocking at my door and I was like: ‘Oh, crap - what have I done.'"

"When I answered, he asked if my mum was there. "

"It was very flattering, but I could tell he was embarrassed as well."

Keira says this is the second time this has happened to her - after a delivery driver asked her to get her mum to sign for a package.

"It's not even the first time this has happened," she added. "

"I'd ordered a delivery - I had to have someone over the age of 18 to answer the door and sign for the package. "

"When I opened the door, he also asked if I could get my mum - even though it was my package."

Despite people thinking she was older during her teenage years, Keira said opinions flipped when she turned 18.

At the age of 20, she even gets ID'd for Red Bull - which some stores won't sell to under 16s.

If she wants to get into clubs and bars, she says she feels the need to wear a bit more makeup - but often, it won't work.

"I used to look and act older than my age," Keira added."

"My mum was a single parent when I was growing up, so I used to do a lot of the cleaning and shopping. "

"I think my older attitude made people mistake me for being older. "

"As I've turned 18, though, people always think I'm younger."

"It's definitely flattering - but a pain that I need to bring my ID everywhere."
