This is the shocking moment a job seeker made an unexpected splash at a posh hotel after driving his car into the swimming pool while looking for a parking spot.

The driver Devrim Demir, 54, from Izmir, had travelled 230 kilometres (143 miles) to Bodrum for work when his vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the hotel's pool near Bardakci Bay in Mugla Province, Turkey, on December 27.

Security camera footage shows the car driving over the tiled floor around the pool before driving directly into the water, floating to the centre, and slowly sinking.

Demir was able to escape by climbing out of the window and swimming to the side at the last minute.

The video ends with the car's blinking lights visible at the bottom of the pool. Demir's vehicle was reportedly rendered inoperable due to the mishap.

He said no warning signs or safety barriers indicated the pool's proximity to the road, suggesting inadequate signage might have contributed to the accident.

The hotel management has not yet commented on the incident.

Local authorities are investigating whether any safety regulations were violated and are taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Bodrum is a popular tourist destination known for its vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, and historic landmarks such as the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
