Salerno, Italy - January 13, 2025 Eight people, including a young girl, were rescued after being trapped by heavy snowfall on Monte Cervati in Campania. Firefighters launched the rescue operation late Sunday night after the group—seven adults and the child—became stranded in a mountain refuge due to severe weather conditions. Using a snowcat from the Avellino fire brigade, the team managed to reach the isolated group and transport them safely down the mountain. The mission was successfully completed in the early hours of Monday morning. The rescue was part of over 400 emergency interventions carried out by firefighters across Campania amid intense storms. Strong winds and snowfall have particularly affected the provinces of Salerno, Caserta, Naples, and Avellino.
