Dramatic footage shows a massive blaze at a brand-new water park that erupted ahead of its grand opening, with some claiming it was built on ancient burial grounds.

The fire at Chongqing Sunac Water Park in Bishan District, Chongqing, China, on January 8, marks the second blaze in less than a year.

The images reveal a massive water slide attraction in flames, with plumes of black smoke rising into the air as the fire rages.

Reports confirm that the fire has been contained, and no casualties were reported.

The blaze is said to have started on a hill where the water slide was located.

Locals questioned the park's management, urging them to address fire safety hazards.

Some residents claimed that the water park was built on an ancient tomb from the Song Dynasty. However, local media reported that this claim was difficult to verify.

A previous fire in July 2024 caused significant damage to the water park while it was still under construction. The first fire also started at a water slide project.

The Song Dynasty ruled China from 960 AD to 1279 AD and was founded by Emperor Taizu of Song (927-976).
