UK police probe unexplained death of woman at country home in leafy village
Police are probing the "unexplained death" of a 54-year-old woman after her body was found at a countryside home in a leafy village. "
Officers were called to a detached property on Horse Road, Wellington Heath, Herefordshire, following the sudden death at around 9.55am yesterday (Mon).
Forensic officers have since been examining the scene in the small quaint village, where property prices average £550,000.
West Mercia Police has launched an investigation and said they are currently treating the woman's death as unexplained.
A force spokesperson said: "We were called to Horse Road in Wellington Heath at around 9.55am yesterday morning (January 13) following the sudden death of a 54-year-old woman. "
"Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing."
An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said: "Police vehicles started to head into the car park by the Farmers Arms pub just after 10am. "
"An ambulance also turned up while the air ambulance helicopter also flew into the village."
"A big house on Horse Road was at the centre of all of this police activity. Police officers trooped in and out of the house all day. "
"They also carried out door-to-door enquiries on Pub Lane as two forensics officers arrived after lunch."
"A black private ambulance drove up to the house last night and a police car has been parked outside the house all night and remains at the house now at 3pm. "
"A dark van has also been used by a police search team."
"This sort of major police drama doesn't happen very often in a tiny, quiet village like Wellington Heath."
