South Korea - January 13, 2025 South Korea's anti-corruption office (CIO) has requested the cooperation of the Defence Ministry and the Presidential Security Service (PSS) to carry out a second attempt to arrest ousted President Yoon Suk-yeol, warning of legal consequences if they obstruct the operation. The first arrest attempt on 3 January failed after security forces prevented investigators from entering Yoon's residence. The authorities are now preparing a new operation involving up to 1,000 officers, and there is speculation that armoured vehicles and helicopters may be deployed to overcome the heightened security measures around the presidential residence.
