A four-storey building near Tollygunge in Kolkata experienced a dangerous collapse on Tuesday afternoon when several of its pillars crumbled, causing the structure to tilt over neighboring properties. Fortunately, the residents had been evacuated a few weeks ago after signs of tilting were noticed, and efforts to address the issue were already underway when the collapse occurred.

The building, which had been under construction since 2009-10, was reportedly built without any permit from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), according to an official. The collapse took place in Vidyasagar Colony, but thankfully no injuries have been reported.

Emergency responders, including senior police officers, members of the Disaster Management Group (DMG), and fire officials, quickly arrived at the scene. Plans to completely dismantle the building are set to begin soon to ensure the safety of the area.
