South Korea - January 14, 2025 South Korean police, anti-corruption representatives and the presidential security service met Tuesday to coordinate the execution of a new arrest attempt on suspended President Yoon Suk-yeol after the first failed in early January. The meeting comes amid speculation that the anti-corruption bureau investigating the president, ousted over his brief imposition of martial law, will carry out a new arrest attempt this week, now with the cooperation of the presidential security service. The first attempt to execute the arrest warrant imposed against Yoon failed on 3 January after presidential security prevented officials from the anti-corruption bureau and dozens of police from gaining access to the president's residence in a tense standoff that lasted several hours before the operation was called off.
