Kind locals gave an orphaned dog a blanket and teddy bears to help keep it warm during a cold spell in Thailand.

The workers from a convenience store found the pooch affectionately named Moo Dang sleeping on a chilly evening at the front of their shop and gave it some plush to hug in Nakhon Ratchasima on January 13.

Footage shows the 7-Eleven storekeepers laying the cloth over the canine that dozed off by the entrance.

They also put old stuffed toys around the stray to help it rest comfortably through the 12 degrees Celsius nighttime chill.

Onlooker Milk Ganeha said: 'Moo Dang is well-known in the area. The neighbourhood has been taking care of the dog after its owner passed away.'

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) confirmed Thailand entered the La Nina phase last month, which caused the cold weather in the Southeast Asian country.

The Thai Meteorological Department said cool temperatures would continue until February before summer begins.
