The sea mammals were found exhausted and stuck in shallow waters in a bay, sparking a three-day battle for their lives. Over 70 individuals, including emergency responders, volunteers, and local officials, have been nominated for the prestigious "My Kind and Needed Animal" international award for their roles in the rescue. Public voting for the award begins in late January, with winners to be announced in the spring in Zelenogradsk, Kaliningrad region. The story of the orcas' rescue has become a symbol of community solidarity and environmental stewardship.
