Fairbanks, United States - January 13, 2025 In an uplifting turn of events, Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire Department, along with wildlife experts, successfully rescued a young bald eagle and returned it to the wild after a full recovery. The eagle, which had been found in a frozen state, spent the night in the Chief’s bay, receiving rest, salmon fillets, and steak to help it regain strength. After a thorough physical assessment by representatives from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services, and the AK Department of Fish and Game, it was determined that the eagle was in excellent condition with no apparent injuries or illness. Once thawed and dry, the eagle was released back into the Fairbanks area, where it took off strongly, soaring into the sky. The community celebrated the successful rescue, especially the Good Samaritan who reported the frozen bird and helped with its rescue.
