Gwinnett County, GA, USA - January 16, 2025 A dramatic early-morning traffic stop on January 12, 2024, saw a Gwinnett County police officer use a PIT maneuver to prevent a wrong-way driver from causing a potential head-on collision. Around 2:45 a.m., Sgt. Kingsley was on patrol near Nelson Brogdon Blvd. and Peachtree Industrial Blvd. when he spotted a driver heading the wrong way. After the vehicle made a U-turn in front of him, it continued driving against traffic. Recognizing the danger, Sgt. Kingsley immediately decided to perform a PIT maneuver, successfully bringing the vehicle to a stop before any harm could be done. The driver, 27-year-old Yuris Garcia Galvez from Gainesville, was arrested for DUI, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, and fleeing or attempting to elude police. She was taken into custody and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail without incident.
