A Bollywood actor was injured during a robbery at his penthouse in Mumbai, India.

Veteran actor Saif Ali Khan was rushed to the hospital following a burglary attempt at his residence in the Bandra neighbourhood early on Thursday morning, January 16.

Reports indicated that an unidentified man assaulted Khan at around 2:30 am, stabbing him multiple times.

Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the COO of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that Khan sustained six injuries, two of which were severe, with one located near his spine.

Uttamani said: 'We are performing surgery on him as there are two more serious injuries. His spine is nearer one of the wounds.'

The family has requested understanding from the public, stating: 'We ask for patience from the fans and media. It is a police issue, and we will keep you informed.'

Deputy Police Commissioner Dikshit Gedam confirmed that an investigation is underway.

Police teams are working to apprehend the suspect, and a First Information Report (FIR) is being prepared regarding the incident.

Khan, who made his acting debut in 1993 with Parampara, has appeared in numerous Bollywood films over the years.
