United States - January 15, 2025 The Auto Fire in Ventura County is now 50% contained, having scorched 61 acres. Firefighters worked overnight to address small flare-ups and stubborn pockets of heat along the fire's perimeter. Despite these flare-ups, the fire has remained static within its original footprint, with no expected growth. Today, firefighters continue to patrol the area and reinforce containment lines, while tackling deep-seated smoldering brush piles inside the perimeter. Resources from Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) and Ventura City Fire include Type 3 and Type 6 engines, a hand crew, a water tender, and a UAS/Drone pilot, all focused on bringing the fire to full containment. An infrared flight by the UAS/Drone pilot provided critical data, showing the remaining hot spots that firefighters are actively addressing. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters will remain on scene until the fire is completely contained.
