Korean salon starts using AI to design hair and make up for customers
A Korean salon has started using Artificial Intelligence to design hair and make-up for customers.
Customers have been enjoying the tech-savvy makeovers using the wonders of AI for their barnets at the H Story Salon in Seoul, South Korea.
Footage shows a hairdresser taking pictures of her clients, which then appear on a large AI mirror in front of them.
The beautician then edits the images, allowing customers to explore various hairstyles before their locks are trimmed.
Manager Lim Heejeong said the system even offers style recommendations, scalp condition analysis, movie hairstyle reproduction, and virtual dyeing.
The AI mirror also analyses customers' face shape, skin tone, and scalp conditions, recommending the most suitable styles while simulating virtual styling in real time.
Lim said: 'This is the future. We are using the technology with all of our customers. They have given excellent feedback and it has attracted more new customers to our shop.
'They can try different styles to see what they look like before they make a decision. There are no regrets after because they see the result first.
'I think that many more hair salons will begin using AI software to plan designs and help them when styling.'
The application of AI in industry has been touted as the biggest technological revolution since the development of the Internet, with chip manufacturers seeing a surge in profits.
But critics claim the technology has limited real-world benefits over what is already available and the vast amounts of energy required to power the AI processors make it financially unustainable.
