Mexico - January 17, 2025 Activists and relatives of Mexican priest Father Marcelo Pérez Pérez called on state and federal authorities Thursday to make progress in the investigation of his violent death, stating that they have seen no advancement in the inquiries. Father Marcelo was murdered on Oct. 20 after denouncing links between drug trafficking and politicians, and for demanding an end to the violence caused by criminal groups fighting for control of Mexico’s southern border.
