Man livid after valet catching garage worker urinating on his Mercedes
A driver was horrified after his dashcam caught a garage worker urinating on the front of his Mercedes while it was in the car wash.
Michael Hinsley, from Broseley, Shropshire, had his £30,000 Mercedes A35 picked up for a routine service at his local Mercedes dealership in Shrewsbury on December 4.
When he got the car back, they seemed to have done a top-notch job, but when he flicked through the dashcam footage he was stunned.
"I was absolutely horrified to see what the guy had done, to urinate on my car – I simply couldn't believe it," he said."
"I came across this clip of a guy putting my car through a car wash. I was horrified as they were using a car wash rather than a mechanical-type wash but what happened next was way more shocking."
The footage showed the employee doing the wash disappear from view - before returning and reliving himself on Michael's Mercedes.
"All of a sudden, I could see what he was doing, and I was absolutely horrified," Michael said. "
"I just couldn't believe someone could do this." "
Michael immediately contacted the dealership to report what he had seen.
After speaking with someone in the service department, Michael sent the footage to the dealership.
He was assured the matter would be investigated, and the following day, a representative called him back.
Michael, who pays £41 per month as part of a plan which includes an annual service on his car, says the valet service responsible is not directly operated by Mercedes but is a client of theirs used for their UK operations.
"They told me they had identified the employee responsible and that he was no longer working there - they said all they could do was apologise," Michael says. "
However, an apology was far from enough for Michael.
"On January 3rd, I called back and told them I wasn't happy with just an apology," he said. "
"I'm disgusted with how they're treating me and the whole situation,"
"The valeting area is on their premises and gated—they are still responsible for what happens there." "
The car, a top-of-the-range A-Class model purchased as a used Mercedes for £30,000 a year ago, was Michael's pride and joy.
"It's a big investment, and I trusted them with it,"
The dealership have since offered him £250 as an apology, but Michael says he has so far refused to accept.
"This isn't just about the damage done - it's about the principle. They need to take accountability." "
The dealership referred SWNS to the Mercedes press office which has been approached for comment.
