Mexico - January 11, 2025 Mexican and US authorities on Friday discovered a clandestine tunnel under the Rio Grande River, which connects Ciudad Juarez in Chihuahua to El Paso in Texas. The passage was used for human trafficking, drug smuggling and transporting illicit goods, authorities said. The 40-metre tunnel was equipped with a rudimentary ventilation system and hidden under the riverbed. It connected to El Paso's drainage systems, where migrants and smugglers surfaced to enter the city. Camera: RAÚL MORALES.
