Pulaski County, AR, USA - January 15, 2025 On January 15, the Ferndale Int’l Observatory shared a charming video featuring a male northern cardinal, dubbed "Mr. Tapper," repeatedly tapping on a camera at their home in Ferndale, Arkansas. Mr. Tapper, who regularly visits with his mate Mrs. Tapper, earned his name from his habit of tapping on windows and doors—a common behavior for cardinals. The observatory set up a camera on their front porch to capture local wildlife, including chipmunks, squirrels, possums, raccoons, cats, and various bird species. This tapping behavior often occurs when food runs out after the birds' morning feeding of sunflower seeds, pecan pieces, and peanuts. The bird’s amusing antics, including tapping on a water dish overturned by squirrels, have gained him a fan following on X.
