A Swiss tourist was rushed to a hospital after being battered with a pool cue when he beat his opponent.

The holidaymaker named Devin, 36, was playing against Thai customer Anan Wangsuwan, 30, at a bar in the Soi Khao Talo area of 'Sin City' Pattaya, on January 16.

The Thai man lost to the tourist but allegedly went on a rampage claiming he had been cheated. He was said to have grabbed a cue stick before repeatedly bashing Devin with it.

Police officer and medics arrived at the scene after receiving a call from the bar staff.

Footage shows medics treating Devin's injured hand as he started crying from the pain. He was rushed on an ambulance to a nearby hospital.

A police spokesman said: 'The Thai man said he was playing pool with the victim. He said the victim cheated and refused to pay him, leading to the attack. He admitted to hitting the Swiss man claiming it was self-defense.'

The bar owner said he had tried to stop Anan, but the rampaging customer was too drunk and refused to listen.

Anan was taken to the police station for questioning.

The disturbing incident is the latest issue with tourists in the notorious coastal city, where round-the-clock sex workers cater to holidaymakers from across the world.

Government chiefs have attempted to clean up the city but regular violence and depravity continue to blight its reputation. Hotspots such as Soi 6, Walking Street and Soi Buakhao have only grown in popularity - with many British expats cashing in on the demand by opening bars,

In one of the most bizarre examples of the region's depths, a British tourist, 71, was grilled by police after he admitted sleeping with the the corpse of a dead prostitute for three nights before the body was discovered. He was later released.

While a German tourist last year told German documentary makers how he was arrested for sleeping with an underage prostitute but bribed police in order to calmly return to his homeland like nothing had happened.
