STORYLINE:
China's first 2,000-meter ultra-deepwater subsea tree, a piece of oil and gas extraction equipment, was assembled on Friday in north China's Tianjin.
According to its developer China National Offshore Oil Engineering Company (CNOOC), this subsea tree is set to operate at a maximum depth of 2,000 meters, with a rated pressure of 10,000 pounds per square inch (PSI), equivalent to a force of about 700 tonnes applied to one square meter.
It can work under temperatures as low as minus 46 degrees Celsius and has a design life of 30 years.
The subsea tree acts as a vital hub, connecting oil and gas production columns to subsea pipelines.
