United States - January 07, 2025 Delaware River, January 7 – On a crisp morning, ice floats moved slowly down the Delaware River, its waters reflecting the bare trees lining the shore. The mostly cloudy sky added to the wintry scene as the river continued its undammed course across the Mid-Atlantic region. The Delaware River, the longest free-flowing river in the Eastern U.S., stretches 282 miles, draining a watershed that provides drinking water to 17 million people, including half of New York City. Recognized by the National Wildlife Federation, it has been called the "Lifeblood of the Northeast."
