STANDUP 1 (English): HUANG KAIYING, Xinhua correspondent
"Behind me, a China-Vietnam freight train is making its way, loaded with special items for the upcoming Lunar New Year.

In 2024, the China-Vietnam freight trains transported 19,670 containers, a staggering 1,153-percent year-on-year increase in freight volumes.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Vietnamese): NGUYEN HOANG ANH, Deputy general manager of Railway Transport and Trade Joint Stock Company of Vietnam Railways
"Since 2017, railway authorities in China and Vietnam have been working together to facilitate container cargo transportation, leading to a significant rise in freight volume.
There are two key routes for transporting goods. The first one transports products from Vietnam to various cities in China before connecting to China-Europe freight trains which travel to Russia, Europe, and Central Asia. The second one carries goods from China to Vietnam by rail, allowing access to ASEAN countries like Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia.
In the past, the variety of transported goods was quite basic. But today, the China-Vietnam freight train service has covered over 300 types of goods."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): CHEN YUAN, China Railway Nanning Group Co., LTD
"In 2024, transportation times have been kept within 14 hours, laying a fast track for economic and trade exchanges between the two countries."
