Ugly scenes unfolded in Whitehall as clashes broke out between pro-Palestine demonstrators across Westminster following a rally in Parliament Square. Protest organisers and the Metropolitan Police engaged in a public back-and-forth on social media over the protest conditions ahead of the weekend, with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) accusing the police of fabricating reasons to prevent a march across London towards the BBC. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police maintained that any public gathering near the Central Synagogue, about five minutes’ walk from Broadcasting House, could cause significant disruption to their morning service. A total of 77 people were arrested by the end of the day, 65 of them for breaching protest conditions.
