A cultural festival featuring the customs of the ancient temple fair in Xunxian County, central China's Henan Province, kicked off to welcome the Chinese New Year by showcasing various traditional folk customs.
Performers, dressed in special costumes, played gongs and drums, and performed the Yangko dance, stilt show, land boat dance, dragon and lion dance among other folk arts.

"I took my twins to the ancient town of Xunxian County today for vacation. We saw bamboo horse and stilt performances. It's so lively. There is a strong festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year."
UNESCO inscribed the Spring Festival on the intangible cultural heritage list in December last year.
The over-1600-year-old Xunxian's Spring Festival Temple Fair was prominently featured in the nomination document.
