"Egypt on Sunday reopened the Rafah crossing, the only channel linking the Gaza Strip with Egypt. I'm now at the Egyptian side of the crossing, seeing trucks line up waiting to enter Gaza via the crossing. Egyptian sources told me that some 200 trucks have arrived at Kerem Shalom crossing ahead of entry to Gaza. A source from the Egyptian Red Crescent teams here told me that some 600 aid trucks carrying medical assistance, tents, and field hospitals, along with another 50 trucks loaded with fuel, are expected to enter the Gaza Strip after inspection by the Israeli side. Besides, local hospitals are ready to receive the wounded Palestinians from the Strip."
The 42-day first stage of the Gaza ceasefire deal was reached on Wednesday through the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
It started taking effect on Sunday after Hamas provided a list of the three Israeli female captives to be released later in the day, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed.
