Determined student plays gaohu with broken bow in China
On December 29, 2024, in Linyi, located in eastern China’s Shandong Province, a video captured a unique and amusing moment during a performance by a traditional Chinese orchestra.
A college junior was playing the gaohu, a high-pitched two-stringed instrument commonly used in Guangdong music.
As the student played, the bow hairs began to snap one by one. Undeterred, he continued playing with just the stick of the bow, determined to finish the performance without disrupting the recording. Even as the last strand broke, he maintained his composure and completed the piece.
