Wild elephant smashes door and reaches trunk inside to search for food
A hungry wild elephant broke the door of a house in India and reached its trunk inside to search for food.
Terrifying footage shows the aggressive jumbo trying to enter the home, leaving residents inside cowering in fear in Tamil Nadu on Saturday night, January 18.
Kitchenware and food supplies were left in chaos as the unexpected guest rummaged through the room.
The filmer can be heard panting as the tusker stays nearby, trying to reach any food before the door is closed and reopened. The individual is seen throwing a yellow sack at the bull.
Local media reported that four migrant workers were staying in a rental house in the Therkkupalayam district of Coimbatore.
They were cooking when the uninvited visitor arrived. The quick-thinking men promptly turned off their gas stove to avoid further attracting the animal.
After taking a bag of ration rice from inside the residence, the male tucsker consumed it and peacefully left the area. No one was reportedly hurt during the incident.
In another encounter, a wild elephant caused a ruckus outside a school in Puri, Odisha, on January 8.
The majestic creature was spotted roaming the college campus, causing panic among students and faculty members. The encounter led the college management to postpone all classes for the day as the elephant remained in the area.
Authorities were immediately called in to help guide the bull out of the premises.
The Indian subcontinent is home to at least 30,000 wild elephants, which is around 60 per cent of the world's entire Asian elephant population.
