STORYLINE:
China's leading new-energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD on Saturday unveiled the Sealion 7 model for the Indian market at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, India's largest mobility-focused event.
The event also featured BYD's impressive lineup of vehicles, including the luxury Yangwang U8 SUV.
Vishal Ahlawat, an Indian motor vlogger, expressed admiration for BYD's technological advancements in making NEVs.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): VISHAL AHLAWAT, Indian motor vlogger
"I have recently been to China and I have seen their headquarters in Shenzhen City. I made a video about the Yangwang U8 car which we recently see in Bharat Mobility 2025. That car has that much of technology which we have never seen in any Indian vehicle till now. That car can make a 360-degree turn. The vehicle can survive 30 minutes in the water. So these kinds of technology we have only seen in the BYD cars. So I'm hoping that BYD will definitely come with these kinds of technology to India also."
BYD is playing a crucial role in supporting India's efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. The company's presence in India has grown significantly over the years.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): RAJEEV CHAUHAN, Head of electric passenger vehicle business at BYD India
"Every industry, every automotive company, government and even the consumers, they all have to come together. In our capacity, what we are trying to achieve is to build customer's confidence in electric cars. So as more confidence we are able to build up, the faster or the higher would be the electric car adoption. So, from a net-zero point of view, the higher the adoption, the quicker would be the net-zero situation. So we are building the confidence through our electric mobility solutions."
