On January 18 in Dongfang City, Hainan Province, a tragic discovery was made as a 12-ton, 11.8-meter-long pregnant fin whale was found dead, washed ashore near coastal rocks. Local residents reported the find, and officials confirmed the whale had been deceased for approximately 4–5 days.

The massive whale's decomposed state and strong odor posed challenges for authorities. A coordinated effort by multiple departments, including the Dongfang City Agricultural and Rural Bureau, successfully brought the whale ashore for necropsy and safe disposal.

The cause of death is under investigation, adding to the somber nature of this incident, which also revealed the whale was carrying a calf at the time of its death.

据东方市农业农村局工作人员介绍，这头鲸鱼是被当地民众在海边一处礁石旁发现的。经过初步检查，确认鲸鱼已经死亡，且死亡时间大约为4至5天。此外，这头鲸鱼还被发现已经怀孕，这无疑增加了事件的悲剧色彩。
由于鲸鱼体型庞大，且已经腐烂，散发出强烈的臭味，相关部门迅速采取了行动。东方市农业农村局等多部门联合行动，将鲸鱼尸体拉上了岸，并交由渔政部门进行了解剖和无害化处理。
目前，对于这头鲸鱼的死因有待进一步调查。
