Los Angeles, United States - January 19, 2025 01/19/2025 10:52 pm (GMT-0800) SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – A suspect involved in a barricade situation at a mobile home park at 1550 Rory Lane in Simi Valley surrendered peacefully late Sunday night after a standoff that lasted several hours, authorities said. The incident began around 1:40 p.m. when neighbors in the mobile home park called 911, reporting multiple gunshots coming from a unit behind the police department. When officers arrived, they confirmed that shots had been fired from within the mobile home. Additional resources were immediately called to the scene, and a crisis negotiation team began working to contact the individual inside. Despite hours of negotiations, which included phone calls between the suspect and his family members, the man refused to surrender. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the Simi Valley Police SWAT team arrived and deployed diversionary devices to help bring the standoff to an end. The suspect eventually exited the mobile home and was taken into custody without further incident. Simi Valley Police Senior Officer Casey Nicholson said detectives obtained a search warrant for the mobile home after the arrest. During their investigation, officers found multiple firearms, which are currently being processed. Authorities also discovered suspicious substances, one of which came into contact with the skin of a responding officer. Nicholson said the officer, who was not identified, was taken to Simi Valley Hospital as a precaution but was reported to be in good condition after the evaluation. The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to process the scene and assess the safety of the surrounding mobile home park.
