fossil hunters from the ancient human village of Sangiran. where the missing link site was discovered by Eugene Dubois
in 1891 the missing link was discovered here. since then this area has become a target for paleontologists and archaeologists. not only they are hunting for fossils here. Residents in the Sangiran area also help search for or find fossils of animals or ancient humans. residents here often find fossils of elephants, buffalo, deer, hippos, rhinos and ancient crocodiles. there have also been fragments of ancient human skulls. also the tools they used to survive.
this Sangiran area used to be a savannah and swamp where ancient humans hunted animals. the Bengawan Solo river also used to pass through this area before changing course further south.
the entire Sangiran area is under the supervision of the Indonesian Antiquities Agency. here five museums were also established to accommodate the findings of paleontologists, archaeologists and residents
