Hero passerby rushes over to rescue woman from suspected kidnappers
This is the moment a heroic passerby rushes to rescue a woman from suspected kidnappers in Sri Lanka.
Dramatic footage shows two schoolgirls walking along the road when a black van arrives from the opposite direction in Daulagala, Kandy, on January 11, around 7:15 am.
Suddenly, a man emerges from the vehicle and grabs one of the girls, forcibly pushing her inside.
A courageous young man intervenes to thwart the kidnappers' attempt to abduct the girl while her companion flees the scene.
Unfazed by the moving vehicle, the saviour continued to confront the suspect until the footage ended.
The Daulagala Police Station reported that the incident was related to a family dispute.
The girl's parents had reportedly arranged her marriage to one of her cousins, but the engagement was later called off. The suspect, who is her cousin, allegedly abducted her in retaliation.
The van was later found abandoned in Polonnaruwa.
Police have launched an investigation to locate the girl and apprehend the suspect.
